This Stories of US post comes from a blogging friend named Joy, at Evil Joy Speaks about her friend Amy! You should definitely check Evil Joy out on Facebook and read her blog. She rocks! You can check her BLOG out at this little linky! Ready!? Here goes. (A big thanks to Joy for participating in sharing the awesomeness within ordinary people.)

I’m writing this post about my friend Amy.
Wife, Mom, Sister,
Friend…Amazing. I call her Amazing Amy or Awesome Amy.
I can’t even
begin to tell you how thankful I am Amy is in my life. She
used to walk over
with her little guys on their scooters when they first
moved here. Thank
GOD she’s persistent because we were constantly on
our way out the door when
she arrived. I was so worried she’d think we
were leaving when we saw her
coming. Finally, it worked out. We connected.
And our first true
connection was at one of those party things. She was
going to support a
co-worker and asked if I wanted to come along. Sure,
I said. We went, we
had fun, and then we drove home in the worst storm
and tornado warnings of
the year. The sky was literally green. Green
people, green. It was a
bonding experience in so many ways – one of
which was praying we’d make it
home okay!
From there we continued to nurture our friendship.
Amy
is the strongest woman I know. She’s had more than her fair share
of tough
blows in life. You’d never know it. She isn’t one to wallow.
If knocked
down, she stands right back up and gets into the “bring it”
stance. She’s
moved more times that I can think about. Amy has amazing
friends still in
each of these places. That right there should tell you
something about the
woman Amy is and has always been.
She is the most generous of heart and
hand. Last year when Dr. Evil was
sick Amy was there. I mean literally
THERE. I called her and told her
they were taking Dr. Evil via ambulance to
the hospital and asked if she
could get my van. She showed up. And drove
me. And stayed with me.
And then watched my spawn. For 5 weeks straight.
She ran my life when I
couldn’t. She took care of the details. She stayed
in town on
Thanksgiving – instead of going home to family – to help and
pray. She
took care of me. Was able to tell me to come home and start to
rest
when no one else could get through to me.
She drives her kids to
school everyday. She volunteers in the
classroom. She participates in
Catch for a Cure to support breast
cancer patients. Oh yeah – and on the
side – she’s a RN who delivers
babies and takes care of moms.
Never
once have I heard her ask for anything. She just does. She does
the right
thing. That is a rare thing in this world.
She is the best mom. Her
boys are so very lucky. I hope someday they
understand all their mom does
for them. She does it out of love and
doesn’t think twice. I want to be as
good of a mom as she is.
Amy is an amazing listener. This is one of her
MANY talents. She can
decorate cakes and cookies. She draws the most
breathtaking pictures.
She can paint. She can mold amazing things with
clay. And not only does
she does these things….she does them amazing
well. At Christmas time,
she makes 26 – TWENTY SIX – different types of
cookies. 26. And they
ALL taste AMAZING.
Amy is someone to
celebrate. She is someone I want my spawn to read
about and see on TV. Not
some silly celebrity getting their five
minutes of fame. Amy the type of
woman I hope my spawn grow to be like.
Amy was always a friend but has
become part of my family. She is a hero
to me. Love to you my dear
friend.
